a chance to catch up with Marten Andersson of Lizzy Borden
and see just what's going on in his Rockin' world these days.
Check it out......
How did you hook up with Lizzy Borden and how long have you been
Marten Andersson: I started playing with
Lizzy on the last leg of the Master of Disguise tour. A good
friend of mine was doing some work for Lizzy and recommended me
for the job. I went down to his studio and meet the band, did 2
auditions / rehearsals, then I was on tour two weeks later.
Are you involved with any other bands?
Marten: I started out working as a studio
musician so I got to play all kinds of music. Styles included a
range of top 40 to death metal. A few of my projects that stands
out, and that I really enjoyed from a musical standpoint are: My
solo project..."Legacy". Guitarist "Joy Basu"
solo work (Joy played with Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson,
members of Dio and Billy Idol). The Jonas Hansson Band (guitarist
from Alcatraz, Silver Mountain)
You did a tour with Lizzy last year. How was the response of the
Marten: It was great. We did shows in
Germany earlier in the year in front of 35,000 people. We really
did not know what to expect as far as the turnout in the States.
After all, we have not toured here for a while. We were unable to
put on our full show in the States because of restrictions of the
headliner, but every place was packed. The response was great and
we kicked some *SS.
Is there anything you do to psyche yourself up before a show?
Marten: I warm up playing my bass, drink 2
or so shots of jagermeister.
How did you guys hook up with Yngwie for the tour?
Some transvestite that F***S Yngwie hooked us up..
[silence] Just kidding of
course. Yngwie was looking for another band to hook up with for
his U.S. tour. The promoters went crazy when they heard we were on
the bill with Yngwie.
You guys were supposed to tour that summer. What happened?
Marten: I am not exactly sure what happened.
Who knows what happens next, Lizzy's manager is always busy
cooking stuff up.
What is the biggest place you ever played and with who?
Marten: The outdoors festivals in Germany
are always a great place to play. Unbelievable professionalism as
far as putting these things together. We played at the "Wacken
Festival" in Germany last year in front of 35,000 people,
that was a great feeling. What a lot of people do not realize is
that you have unbelievable magic in a packed club in front of 300
people. I guess it's true what they say, size doesn't matter !
What do you do in your spare time?
Marten: I am constantly writing for my side
projects (Legacy, bass solo album). We party, ride Harley's and of
course I look at myself in the mirror, masturbate and hump my
Are there any bands you'd like to tour with?
Marten: Spinal Tap
How big is Lizzy in Japan and Europe?
Marten: Europe (especially Germany) and
Japan is a huge market for us and for metal in general. I love
what I see around the world. I'll see 14 year old kids with Lizzy
Borden shirts etc. It's a good feeling and it's coming back here
in the States.
What bands are you currently listening to?
Nightwish, Best of Dio, Buckcherry, Dust for Life, and anything
else I can shake my stiff white *ss to.
Besides music, do you have any other hobbies?
Marten: The Rainbow Bar & Grill
Do you have any other goals in life?
Marten: To F*** Pamela Anderson and Slema
Hayek before I die.
What are your feelings on the tragic events on 9/11/01?
(Serious) Many of the emails I have been receiving are from people
that wonder how I feel about all this. This is soo horrible. They
sucker punched us and hit us right in the heart. It's such a
senseless loss. We have to go on and make sure we make a
difference, and OF COURSE get the F***ers who did this to us.
Is there anything else you'd like to say to all the
Marten: Metal fans especially Lizzy fans are
the best, hardcore mother F***ers! There is a lot more music to
come, not only from Lizzy but from my personal sound library so
stay tuned ! ! ohh and also, we are horny all the time, so bring
it on baby !
